How Does ALEKS Improve Student Performance?
Through individualized assessment and learning, a custom learning path is
created for students by gradually introducing new material when the student is
ready for it. Course components include individualized assessment and learning,
detailed explanations, definitions of math terms, and alternative methods to
solve problems.
Assessment:
- The initial ALEKS assessment uses adaptive questioning to accurately
determine what a student knows, doesn't know, and is ready to learn next.
- The results of the ALEKS assessment are displayed in a color-keyed pie
chart, providing a graphic presentation of the student's current knowledge
state and her progress toward completing a course.
- As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the
student to ensure that learned topics are also retained.
ALEKS Pie Chart: Summarizes the student's current
knowledge state and offers topics that the student is ready to learn next.
 Learning:
As the student completes practice questions, ALEKS
provides constant feedback, explanations, definitions of terms, and other
helpful tools.
As the student progresses through the Learning Mode,
ALEKS continually updates its report of what the student knows and
reassesses the student to ensure new knowledge is retained.
Students receive immediate feedback on every problem they
attempt in the Learning Mode.
